[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uptodate.com\/contents\/arteriovenous-fistula-creation-for-hemodialysis-and-its-complications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arteriovenous fistula creation for hemodialysis and its complications<\/a>] The study describes the practice and outcomes in Japanese patients with non-dialysis chronic kidney disease who have undergone vascular shunting (AVF) surgery at stage 5. Our paper served as the basis for the author&#8217;s opinion that patients with renal failure should be referred to a vascular access surgeon when vascular access is considered necessary, especially around the estimated GFR of 5-15 ml\/min\/m2.
