Dr. Noriaki Kurita is a professor at Fukushima Medical University (Specially Appointed, Full-time), where he also serves as the chief of\u00a0Department of Innovative Research and Education for Clinicians and Trainees (DiRECT)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0at Fukushima Medical University Hospital. Dr. Kurita supervises graduate students in the\u00a0Department of Clinical Epidemiology<\/strong><\/span>, shaping the next generation of clinical researchers with a unique blend of clinical epidemiology and hands-on biostatistics through a distant learning system.<\/span><\/p>\n

A graduate of the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine (MD, 2004), Dr. Kurita trained in General Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Mitsui Memorial Hospital in Tokyo. He later earned a PhD in medicine from Kyoto University School of Public Health in 2014. His academic excellence led him to join Fukushima Medical University, where his innovative educational methods have resulted in numerous student-led publications in esteemed journals, such as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Br J Surg<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>Surg Endosc<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>Spine<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>Eur Spine J<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>Clin Nutr<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>Int J Infect Dis<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>Emerg Infect Dis<\/strong><\/em>, and\u00a0<\/span>Clin J Am Soc Nephrol<\/strong><\/em>. In recognition of his educational contributions, Dr. Kurita was appointed a Visiting Professor at Showa University in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

With 137 scientific publications to his name\u201438 as first or co-first author and 87 as corresponding or last author\u2014Dr. Kurita\u2019s research, published in renowned journals such as Nephrol Dial Transplant, J Bone Miner Res, Rheumatology (Oxford, England), Clin J Am Soc Nephrol, Am J Kidney Dis, Kidney International<\/strong><\/em>, and\u00a0Diabetes Care<\/strong><\/em>, covers a wide range of nephrology topics, including vascular access, interdialytic weight gain, mineral metabolism, and urinary biomarkers. Dr. Kurita has a strong focus on clinical statistics, contributing to numerous large-scale studies addressing issues like blood pressure, protein intake, and frailty in kidney patients:<\/span><\/p>\n
