In October 2023, he joined the doctoral program in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at the Graduate School of Medicine, Fukushima Medical University.

“I have dedicated my career to clinical practice, focusing primarily on pediatric critical care. Over time, I found myself increasingly confronted with unresolved questions during routine clinical work, sparking a strong interest in conducting clinical research that begins with these real-world challenges. In my tenth year as a physician, although I lacked foundational knowledge in clinical research, I embarked on my first attempt at data collection and statistical analysis. After nearly a year of effort, I completed my first English manuscript. However, when I submitted it to my mentor for review and revisions, I received no response for several years, and the manuscript remained unpublished. I realized that the quality of my work at the time was likely too low to merit constructive feedback.

This experience gave me a strong determination to independently produce high-quality English manuscripts. I began learning essential clinical research skills, including study design, statistical analysis, and academic writing, through books and seminars. With this knowledge, I tackled my second English manuscript. Although I faced repeated rejections and dishearteningly harsh reviewer comments, I persevered, driven by memories of my first failed attempt and the significant effort I had invested. Finally, after 16 submissions, the paper was accepted. The joy of that achievement was indescribable and marked the beginning of my passion for clinical research.

Since then, I have steadily continued publishing papers at my own pace, gradually refining my clinical research skills and gaining confidence in academic writing. However, as I took on a mentoring role for junior colleagues, I became acutely aware of the gaps in my knowledge. Learning through practice is valuable but inherently limited to the scope of one’s experiences, leaving unaddressed areas leaving unaddressed areas like holes in a patchwork quilt. This realization led me to pursue systematic academic training in clinical research.

With this motivation, I decided to enroll in the doctoral program in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at this university. Building on my prior experiences, I aim to conduct and share clinical research that enhances the quality of care in critical care medicine on a global stage. Additionally, I am committed to continuous learning and growth to contribute meaningfully to advancing evidence-based practice in this field.”

[Professional Affiliations and Qualifications]
Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine (Board-Certified Intensivist)
Japanese Society of Pediatrics (Board-Certified Pediatrician and Supervisor)
Japanese Association for Acute Medicine (Board-Certified Specialist in Emergency Medicine)

[Training and Clinical Experience]
2005- Junior resident, Hoshigaoka Medical Center
2007- Resident, Pediatrics and Neonatology at Nara Medical University Hospital and affiliated hospitals
2011- Fellow, Department of Critical Care Medicine, National Center for Child Health and Development
2014- Senior fellow, Department of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, Nihon University Itabashi Hospital
2015- Staff physician, Department of Critical Care Medicine, National Center for Child Health and Development
2016- Chief physician, Department of Intensive Care Medicine, Osaka City General Hospital

[23

post-5337","profile","type-profile","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","position-student-assistant","en-US
["GET
